No More Good Water Blues
Tracks:
1 - Christoph Delz: Klavierquartett
2 - Jürg Wyttenbach: Paraphrase
3 - Thomas Kessler: No more good water blues
4 - Lukas Langlotz: Fixierungen
This recording brings together three generations of Swiss composers. Jürg Wyttenbach was the piano teacher of Jürg Henneberger and is a close friend of many members of Ensemble Phoenix Basel.
„Paraphrase“ was written for Swiss flutist Aurèle Nicolet, with whom Wyttenbach played this piece many times. He describes his composition briefly: „The two players converse and have a dialogue in the first part in different ways to weep in the second part. In the third part, they argue with each other and interrupt themselves musically.“
Thomas Kessler belongs to the same circle of friends. He wrote his „No more good water blues“ for duo „B&B“. He was inspired by a blues number of the same name by Jaybird Coleman.
Christoph Delz was from Basel and died young. He wrote this extremely expressive string trio, which is only at its end „disturbed“ by forceful piano chords.
Lukas Langlotz - also from Basel - studied with Rudolf Kelterborn. His brilliantly virtuoso sextet was written for „ensemble für neue musik zürich“.
