Meier André

André Meier (*1974) studied trumpet with Rudolf Linder, composition with Detlev Müller Siemens and Erik Oña (2002-2007) and improvisation with Walter Fähndrich at the Hochschule der Musik-Akademie Basel. Courses with Markus Stockhausen, Malte Burba and Michael T. Otto, computer-aided-composition with Philippe Kocher. 
Besides current music teaching duties at the Winterthur Conservatory, André Meier has his focus on new and improvised music. He was awarded an atelier stay in London (in 2001) and his compositional works received various scholarships and grants by the Aargauer Kuratorium as well as by the Kiefer Hablitzel Stiftung and Nicati-de-Luze.
His works has been performed by the Tonhalle-Orchester ZürichEnsemble Aleph ParisEnsemble Phoenix Basel. For his sextet "descriptions d’un espace" André Meier was invited to the "4e Forum International des Jeunes Compositeurs" of the Ensemble Aleph (Paris) to Dresden in 2006. As musician he has played in the Swiss Improvisers Orchestra and in the Lake Side Art Jazz Orchestra. Contemporary music he performs together with the Ensemble Ö! and the Ensemble TAG Winterthur.
