Billone Pierluigi

Pierluigi Billone was born in Italy in 1960.

He studied composition with Salvatore Sciarrino and with Helmut Lachenmann. Pierluigi Billone has received scholarships from the Academy Castle Solitude Stuttgart, Heinrich Strobel Foundation, Hamburg State Opera, Akademie der Künste Berlin, and Kunststiftung Baden/Wurttemberg- Stuttgart. He has won composition awards from the City of Stuttgart, Akademie der Künste Berlin, Office of the Government of Vienna and City of Vienna.

His music has been and is performed on Festivals such as Donaueschinger Musiktage, Tage für Neue Musik Stuttgart, Witten-Kammermusikfestival, Darmstädter Ferienkurse, Wien-Modern, Bludenz-Festival, Tage für Neue Musik Zürich, Musik-Protokoll Graz, Ultraschall Berlin, "Voix Multiples" Geneve, and by well-known soloists and conductors with ensembles such as the Ensemble Contrechamps, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Recherche and Orchestras such as the WDR–Cologne and RSO-Wien, and regularly broadcasted from most important Radios (WDR, SDR, BRD, NDR, ORF, DRS, RCE, RF).

2006-2008 Billone iwas guest professor of composition at the University for Music and the Performing Arts Graz.

His music has appeared on the Kairos, Stradivarius, Col-legno, EMSA and Durian record labels.
